how do I glue down my fretboard (it is coming off slightly)

Hello:
The fretboard on my 70s 360 is coming off. As in the first 3" (up to the 2nd fret), there is a bit of air between the neck and fretboard. I would estimate the distance to be 1/16", but if I pull, it can get to a little more than that. (not much more)
I never noticed this until this morning. I took the nut off in order to shim it, and of course loosened the strings substantially. I guess the string tension pulls the fretboard down enough so that it is not normally visible.
So, I'd like to glue it down into place.
> Any thoughts as to what kind of glue I should use? White / Elmers? I've also got some Elmers Carpenters Wood Glue. Something else?
> Also, what would be a good way of getting the glue into the separation? 1/16" isn't very much, and it's not clear to me how to get the glue into that small an opening. Any thoughts?
I've attached a photo for reference.
thanks in advance for your thoughts- - -
