I am curious if anyone here has taken the new Boss looper pedals for a test drive.

I had the Boss RC-3 for a while, and it was a really cool pedal. I could stack guitars without losing volume or tone, and could use it live for a convincing sound, unlike any harmonizer pedals I've owned or tried. The RC-3 has a lot of features, and if you get the Boss Double footswitch, you can really acess cool stuff on the fly.

The drums in it make for a good practice tool, and can really help to lock you in if you want to have lines pre recorded to call up live. This works equally as well for solos or rhythm and doesn't sound fake. Perfect for figuring out harmony parts, writing bass lines, and all other kinds of stuff.

If you plan on using this live in a cover band that plays classic rock like Boston, Thin Lizzy, and Queen, I would recommend getting the big one where you can easily access all of your pre recorded harmony loops and assign them to pedal locations. The most important thing you need to use this live is a solid drummer, as even the tap tempo functions can't fix sloppy timing.

Mike: Thanks for this. Is the RC 30 that much easier to access pre-recorded tracks? I thought that could be accomplished on the RC 3. Difficulty accessing tracks would certainly be a dealer breaker for me.

An RC-2 came to me at a very nice price. I think it's their most modest looper, but it can take an external foot switch to give it two buttons. I think it's already way smarter than I am, in that it can do probably anything that I could dream up for it.

Yeah, I think it was the RC2 I had-regular Boss size pedal.

With the RC-3 I don't see an input for a foot switch.
