Do you think we could manage an Australian confluence?

I wonder if we could get it together?
Just thinking aloud...

I think if you provide enough beer, no problem!

Ah, the tyranny of distance is a bit of a killer, given the scattering of the Oz forumites across this wide brown land, but the lure of a free beer (or fourteen) as Jeff suggests might just be the ticket to engender interest.
I feel sheepish that I haven't met any of the Sydney RRF crowd.... Life (family, work and friends) just seems to get in the way.

Quite a few members hail from Melbourne.............so yes I bet you could. IIRC it's been done before to some degree.

Distance shouldn't be too much of an issue; we have had lots of confluences where folks traveled millions, er, thousands of miles to get here. It just takes commitment and planning ahead enough to get people to take vacation time to make it happen.

I bet even Aitch would come back to Oz for it.

That might be a bit of a stretch............it's winter in Oz.

Should prolly open up the jam segment with a rendition of the Plimsouls' "Million Miles Away" then. . .

I know what you mean Evan. Just to get people within the state of California (even some people who live reasonably close) to come to an event is as Paulie has deemed, "Worse than herding cats!"

The large land area vs small population is an issue. We should have taken photos when Evan and I met as it would prove that there was at least an "Over the Mountains" miniminicon.....
Eden.

Yep, you guys are almost as bad as Montana. You've got 2.8 people/square km whereas we've got 2.5. Of course, there are some populated places nearby, but most are about 1000 miles (1600km) away. I suppose I should set up a Montana Microcon, but I'd probably be the only one there...
Best of luck in setting up a get together down under!

:lol
Idaho is close enough, given the human fodder/land mass ratio. We do have one forumite in Boise (that I know of).

OK, if Brian wants to drive 400 miles, then there will be 2 of us! Of course, before I moved last year it would have been 850 miles. There's an awful lot of nothing in Montana (well, except beautiful scenery)...

IIRC the prices for inland flights are not so high as here in Europe ?
Aitch is coming back soon from SCARF - a true veteran! - , he will tell you guys how to get such an event together !
Wouldn't Ayers Rock be a fine location ?
