Just picked up one of these last night off eBay:



For about $300 I figured why not? Anybody ever played one before? What'd you think?

Never had one of them myself. I'll stay tuned to see the report!

If it sounds like it looks - nice ! Hagström was quite a well known brand. Our bass player has an Hagstroem eight string bass.
How is the neck ? Is it a little wider than the 300 series ?
I've got an early seventies EKO Barracuda 12 string, DeArmond Pups, put Rick strings on and it sounds very jangly. Slim broad neck with a zero fret, easy to play. I had a Toaster in at the bridge for a while but changed it back to the original Pup.

I used to have the 6 string version, I thought it was great.

Old Hagstroms are well made and generally have very stable necks. The little slide switches tend to get scratchy over the years, so you may need to try to work some contact cleaner into them and work them back and forth a bit, but they're good guitars.

I remember those but have no experience with them. The last one I picked up was a vintage 8 string bass at Elderly about 4 or 5 years ago. It is a funny story because as soon as I set it down the bass player from Blues Traveler picked it up. He was there with his young son, as well as the rest of the band. I didn't realize it until I had left and saw a pic, from a local paper, of the band performing in Lansing the night before.
