The legendary songwriter/producer has passed away at the age of 78. Any music lover who was alive in the Sixties must bow their head in sadness. As one half of the Leiber/Stoller team he gave us "Hound Dog", "Jailhouse Rock", "On Broadway", "Charlie Brown", and many other beloved hit songs.

Oh man, they're dropping like flies. Sure does make a guy feel old.

He was a great writer and a visionary in terms of the whole rock and roll music genre. RIP Jerry.

I first learned about him by watching a VHS video I'd purchased many moons ago on the "girl groups" of the 1960's - at least I'm pretty sure he was in it. Many of the people in it have passed away now, including Ellie Greenwich.
