Well, there were a jillion offered on here last year or something, and then a big fiasco when the sales took several months before being honored. When I finally got my set I passed it on to another member because I had already moved beyond any desire to use the strings at that point. But if you put up a want ad in the Marketplace I bet you'll find a set quickly enough for $75-100.

I just sold a set for $75 about two weeks ago here.

Oh well, I guess I was a little late. Hopefully another set will come up soon.
The TI's are good and all for the time being, but it would be nice to find the real mccoy. Thanks for the replys though.

The blanked out begining of my last response looks ALOT worse than what I actually said by the way.

Anyway, if anyone has a NOS set of Maximas (McCartney kind)they're looking to sell, I'd definitely be interested.

You could try a set of Optima 4099. I guess you seen that thread on those already?
Side by side on two different basses, they are so close to Maxima that I couldn’t see, feel, or hear much difference.

Wow, you know I did buy a set of the Optima 4099 strings a few months ago and guess I assumed they weren't that close to the older Maximas. I think I remember John Hall saying that TI's were the closest string so far, so I was expecting the Optima 4099's to be similar to them(TI's). Maybe I'll give the Optima 4099's a shot again if I can't find some old Maxima's.
Thanks for your reply, by the way!

RRF member Tracy Sands still has short scale sets.
