Someone wants to trade me....

A Music Man Bongo Bass and a USA Peavey Cirrus Bass. Both are 4 stringers. I have pics of the Bongo, waiting on the Cirrus.

Anyone have an idea on the value? Kind of hard to tell from Ebay sales as there are not many on either bass, and there seem to be variations of both.

Any input appreciated

A new Bongo bass is $1505. You might ask Steve Cooper what a used is worth, he plays a Bongo.

Jack and Tony should be able to help with the Peavey Cirrus.

It seems that MM Bongo holds its value pretty well, and is a bass i would like to check out someday myself. The peavey Cirrus, seems to also be the exception to the rule of used Peavey basses,in that they seem to retain a pretty good amount of value, altho they go for a lot less than when they were new. Both are pretty popular basses,so if you are thinking of trade/resale value, they should be good choices.

Here's the Cirrus....

I'm thinking the Bongo is worth about $900 used, and the Cirrus about $600. This based on the little info I could find on Ebay and other bass related sites

I know the Cirrus is the walnut top one. There's a couple sitting at $900 on Ebay with no takers, but you're right. I may have underestimated on the Peavey. Bongo is about right. Looks like it just needs to be wiped down to look excellent.

Well, checked them both out today....regardless of value I didn't think either bass was half a Rickenbacker so, no trade.

Honestly Eden, sometimes you don't know what you have, until you don't have it anymore.

I was without Ric bass for about two years until I made a trade for two recently. While they may be expensive (compared to other major company production models), they stack up to boutique basses in build quality and tonality. It's almost unfair to compare them to standard builds even from the best manufacturers.

A trade will be made, but for different, and more valuable gear. One of the reasons I'm doing it is because the person getting it will be using it for extensive studio work in NYC and that's going to allow more people to hear a sound we already know is superior
