Sad Day for Me

You guys may be the only people to know how I feel right now.

I've been on short term disability since July and I missed two paychecks in a row. My wife was giving me a hard time, so I had to sell my Rickenbacker...I'm totally bummed out.

I'm sorry to hear this. It happens to the best of us. I had to sell a couple of mine earlier this year. But hang in there - there'll be another rick out there waiting for you when you get back on your feet. :)

Thanks Kira

I'm already sizing up the next one :D

It was the only thing that could instantly get back a nice chunk of change. I actually sold the white Kramer Nightswan in that picture as well. It was gone in a day. Believe it or not, what felt worse is that she didn't see how much it hurt me to sell it. It's truly been my favorite guitar.

Why couldn't you sell a pointy headstock guitar instead, it looks like you are not in short supply of those?

Sorry to hear you had to sell the Rick. :(

They wouldn't have commanded the money that the Ric did....I did sell the white reverse headstock guitar. Which was also a rare axe..

I'm so sorry to hear this!

No matter what Ric you may replace it with, you'll always miss your original. :(

Sorry to hear this.. I've had to sell some gear as well .. times are tough.. ..

but: the comforting fact is-- when the time is right.. there are plenty of guitars out there to choose from.. could very possibly end up being a blessing in disguise !

Thanks so much for the condolences. It helps a lot. Like many of you (I suspect), I love The Beatles. It's really tough to know that I can't go downstairs, strap the Ric on and get "that sound". I had a whole repetoire of tunes that I used to tear through....Smithereens, Tom Petty, REM...kind of rough, not having that option. I was in love with that guitar..

Tom, sorry you had to sell your Ric, but who knows? Maybe a better one is out there. When I find a guitar that just works for me, I stick with it for as long as I can. I should know, I've had the same four guitars since June of 2010. Nothing has left, nothing has come in.

Indeed. It's possible you'll find a better Ric. Maybe you'll luck out, once and if this economy gets better, and get a vintage Ric.

Tommy---don't sweat it, you did the honorable thing, man.

I'd sell anything I have if it means paying your bills and keeping a roof over your family's head. They're just toys guitars, remember that!
