The unusual, bound neck, 20 fret 330/12 Phil Manzanera sold to Johnny Marr makes an appearance. I'm thinking the scale was changed to something like 25" from 24.75, given the3 fret spacing and lack of 21st fret.
Cool song.

Ya gotta love it back then when groups made TV appearances. No one is plugged in and there is not even a mic close to the sax player. Maybe that is why John Wetton is laughing.

The rule on Top Of The Pops was that you had to re-record your backing track (as with lots of Whistle Test clips)or have the TOTPs orchestra play the backing with the artist singing the vocals live.
There were some dreadful cases where the BBC orchestra did the backing (mostly reggae songs..they just couldnt get into the groove!)and basically made a complete ####s up of the single for the poor vocalists.
Some odd sessions had live bands but very few as far as I remember did this apart from The Who.

Bryan Ferry's voice can soothe any listener's soul, no matter what instruments are played, much "More than This"!

Their touring bassist before the mighty Wetton was Sal Maida who used a 4001.

Sal was probably the most flash looking Roxy bassist. Wetton, Gustafson, Rick Wills etc. dressed more workman -like. Maybe Ferry didn't want to take any risks after Eno was sacked.

Good find! I never really associated Roxy Music with Rickenbacker, but I can see it for this song. Still...Eno>Ferry
