Which one to keep

If you had to choose between two Rickenbacker basses which would you choose considering all things are equal as far as the bass itself goes.
1998 4001V63 Mapleglo
2010 4001C64 Mapleglo
Both are like new.
The 4001V63 has the one piece neck and a slimmer body profile and contours.
The 4001C64 has a 2 piece neck, angled horse shoe pick up, and a thicker blockier body and contours.
One is going. Which is the keeper and why?
Thanks

My 95 4001V63 Jetglo is my #1. That one has the slimmest body and neck I have ever seen. In fact the jack plate over hangs the body edge in part. The horn contours are also very narrow. If the Mapleglo one were like this one it would be an easy choice.

I'll be the lone voice in the wilderness and say keep the C64. But then I'm a McCartney geek.

Then, you buy it!

I have lined them all up and it looks like all 3 of my V63's have much smoother and tapered lines while the 2 - C64's and jetglo matte C64S are thicker and blockier? Is that normal?

This is a highly personal decision especially considering Rics vary as much within models as between sometimes. I have played several 4003s that felt nothing alike in my hands.
If I were you I'd gig with both for a few weeks and just see which one "works" better for you. A clear leader usually emerges from these experiments. What you like may be someone else's worst nightmare so there's no right or wrong answer.

I would keep the C64. The '98 V63's had the incorrect "bulbous" cresting wave on the headstock like the regular issue 4003's from '97-up. Almost all of the hardware on a V63 was standard issue 4003 stuff too, while C64 parts were more vintage correct. The two piece neck on the C64 is also stronger, which is really important on basses with the 1/2" neck pickup spacing since the additional routing weakens the neck in that area.

Keep the one that doesn't have the backwards headstock.
