I'm a big Matthew Sweet fan, but I suspect the guitars used on this record would be his trusty old Epiphone Casino and Fender Electric XII.
A couple of the Rics that he's been seen using in the past have both been sold on Ebay, including the gorgeous greenburst one he was given at the Ric 75th party.
I would doubt that he's replaced them as he doesn't seem to be a massive fan of the guitars, which would be my only criticism of him as the Fender XII sounds rubbish compared to a 360C63.

I heard one new tune on the radio last week, and it was a good' un. Didn't know it was him at first, thought "Who's doing this Byrd's-type number"? Lot's o' 12 string.

Actually, both of those are gone now, as well. The 12-string is a Fano JM12, and most (if not all) of the 6-string electric rhythm guitar tracks are Fano models.
The lead guitar on the first track, "Oh Oldendaze" is a '99 360. The "swell" part on "My *** Is Grass" is a 650C. This one appears on other songs, but I don't remember which. Some packages will include bonus tracks, two of which feature the 650: "Another Chance" and "Evil By Design (Goodbye Nature)". Not sure exactly where/when those will turn up, but they're out there.

Thanks for all the info Dennis.
With REM splitting up, we need the likes of Matthew Sweet more than ever!
I'm really looking forward to getting this latest CD, and hopefully getting along to a gig should he visit the UK.

It's so frustrating being a fan of Matthew but living in the UK.
We never get any radio stuff here, and although his new album has some special editions with loads of extra tracks, here in the UK all I can get is the bog standard version.

This was on
http://www.kscn.org, you can get it. The program is "The World Cafe", which is repeated twice a day, I just happened to have worked O.T. and caught the evening show on the drive home.
The World Cafe is syndicated, so it might be on a radio near you!
