Hopefully some of you guys can help me...I found a rickenbacher electro mandolin. I can't find another like it anywhere on the net. Details are as follows: 20 frets, 8 string, rickenbacher spelled with a H, Electro on the name plate along with Los Angeles. Mapleglo finish, one volume control button and the serial number is C2524. Any idea what year this was made. I found one close in a Rickenbacker catalog from 1932 but it was missing the silver end piece marked vibrola. Any help would be appreciated. I will add photos if I can figure how how to do it

I'm pretty sure Graham Griffiths has one of these. Hopefully he will chime in.

Dunno. The RIC website decoder says it is invalid but that's because it is from so far back in years. I do see yours is 10 numbers after Grahams.

The first 2 likely means 1952. I've got a 1958 console steel that starts with D8, and I know they did use that sort of coding for a while in the 1950s. You could take it apart and check the date codes on the pot to get a better idea. Of course, that could have been bought well in advance of its manufacture, or it might have been replaced at some time, so that might not be terribly reliable. But, it's worth a look. Not sure how you'd get to it though...

Through the hole in the body once the pickup is removed.
