A new way

Just purchased a 660-12 montezuma brown listed on eBay. Looks as if it had never been played. Removed the strings and put a set of TI's on it, gave the truss rods a slight adjustment and the guitar plays like butter. I've owned a few rickenbackers before this one... A 330-6, 360-12, always attracted to the look and quality of these instruments, always fighting with the neck... But this 660... I have to say... Makes me very happy when I play it.... The neck is wide enough to barre, run scales, and even do bends, things I always struggled with the thinner necks, and I have short little fingers. I didn't get it to create the Beatles or byrds sound, it's inherently there, if you want... It was always the new wave, power pop bands that played them, the almost post modern look the guitars have... Classic, but never dated that drew me in. It's not a one trick pony, but more Arabian. A guitar that has a different spectrum of color than most. I told a friend I bought a 12 string, showed him a pic. He said, it looks great, but no one plays 12 strings........ I said I'm gonna start a trend.

thank you... I'm very happy with it... the color is just a plus. I'm impressed with how much chime it has, yet you can dial it in to a warm acoustic tone if needed.

Congrats, she's stunning!!
I've owned 2 Ric 12s, a 360/12v63, and a 350/12v63. I'd like to think there'll be another in my future down the road, and I've been intrigued by the 660s.
I'm far from the accomplished players many here are, but I have to admit, I've never gotten the whole "12 string song" mindset--sure, I know there are many classic tunes out there where 12s are featured, but I don't think anyone should limit themselves to just those songs.
I still have an acoustic 12, and I like to play anything I play on a 6 string...more often than not, the effect is really nice!
Best of luck,
Bill

Frank: Congratulations and thanks for sharing this gorgeous instrument with us. Yet another example illustrating that the Rickenbacker look is like no other. A sight to behold.

again... I have to say that the guitar is only constrained by lack of imagination.... the 660, for me, has the best that rickenbacker offers... the look and tone, with the wider neck, particularly for a 12 string, making it much easier to play.... and thank you everyone for the warm welcome to your forum.

Frank, my first Rick was a 2004 MB 660/12, and I still have it. You never forget your first. Montezuma Brown is a terrific color and seems to be rare, despite it being the COY for 2 years.
Play it in good health and tell your friend...never mind...

It's a beauty, Frank.... congrats!
My second Rick purchase was a Fireglo 660/12. It doesn't see much action these days but I'm still gobsmacked every time I open the case.
