Don't know how this will effect Rickenbacker, but the MAN is on the move. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/10 ... latestnews

Buy all your desired guitars now, before this gets uglier.

Doesn't affect us in the least. We think this is as things should be.

We don't use Indian Rosewood or Ebony, and we certainly don't buy from a boutique wood reseller like Luthier's Merchantile.

The Maple, Walnut and the two species of Rosewood we use are not endangered or otherwise controlled.

There's nothing new here is there? Gibson got raided under vague auspices, others potentially at risk... old news. Not sure why FOX posted a whole new article of rehash.

I have to agree the government's position on this is confusing though. I'll be the first one to say trees are way, way, way more important than guitars, but this is just weird. India isn't likely to give the go ahead unless they feel their environment and economy are being sustainably supported by the transaction, although graft is a huge problem there.

Maybe this should be in "The Others".

RIC runs a fairly "green" ship right? Kudos. Is the maple and walnut domestic too?

Super OT but... last Christmas I visited family in Phoenix and my uncle had crafted a cutting board out of American hard rock maple, American walnut, and exotic bubinga... very pretty, and I was able to identify all of it from knowing about Rics.

That's the worst misspelling of Rickenbacker I've ever seen!

Oh, and yeah... this should probably go in Others. Guitars have fingerboards, not just basses... "huh? there's other subforums? derp derp? herp a derp?"

But the law appears to have also had the unintended effect of stifling American business.

Our government, stifling business? You don't say...
