Two Arrivals this Week

A busy week at our house .....
On Sunday morning our Miniture Schnauzer "Penny Lane" became an adopted big sister ! The very caring folks at "Miniture Schnauzer and Friends Rescue" in Redondo Beach
http://www.msfr.org/ brought this little cutey to join our family. He is a dead ringer for our Penny Lane with the same distinctive white markings. The poor little guy was a stray with no collar or chip, rescued from the Downey Shelter, which unfortunately only allows an unclaimed animal three days of lodging ....
It's estimated he may be 10 months old .... he is still growing into his long legs and large paws.
This little guy is extremely active and at the same time, he is quite a cuddle-lover and jumps in your lap the minute you sit down ! We're thinking of "Brodie" as his name. As might be expected, Brodie and Penny are defining the boundaries of acceptable puppy play, within the context of the 4 year old, who has ruled the roost, for that many years. !!
So far, it has been impossible to get the two schnauzers in a picture together because he has unbounded energy !
I'll post pictures of Penny and Brodie together, when I can get Brodie to sit still long enough !

In addition to the case of kennel cough that Brodie brought with him from the shelter, I suspect he also brought me another dose of the Double Bound Fever. ! The symptoms started showing after Brodie arrived and I succumbed immediately to an ad from a Craig's List seller.
The second arrival at our home this week was this beautiful six string v64 !!

Not too many of those six-stringers around. This v64 was manufactured in 1999 and the seller originally purchased it brand new, at a Guitar Center in Maryland. It is in excellant condition, great action and plays so sweetly with those Hot Toasters !!

The FireGlo shading and dark edge are really nice.
And Double Bound ---- what can you say ?
What an exciting week with a puppy and a v64 with Hot Toasters .... and its only half way through !
With Brodie's rowdiness and puppy energy, I don't know if he will be posing in any pictures with the Rics until after he attends some obedience classes !
Sorry for the fingerprints and grimy look of these pictures ... the v64 is still in need of a Zymol-izing.

Cool! Congrats on the new pooch, and the V64-FG's pretty nice-no "clown-glo"!

Love schnauzers, and Penny Lane is no exception.
A V64, eh? Expect me to play it at SCARF '12. Are those pickups loud like the 480?

Congrats on both accounts Rich. It seems we both love dogs and Rickenbacker 360v64 guitars.

Probably; IIRC "hot" toasters and hi gains both have about 12K output, though I think some hi gains are 14K. Hot toasters have more mids, which is why I especially like them for six string Ricks.

Thanks for all the nice postings and well-wishes !
Sorry I have been without Forum contact for several days, as we made a car trip up to SF Bay Area and my laptop ran out of battery power the first time I used it ..... Just got back home late last night.... both of the Schnauzers slept like logs, on both legs of the journey, and they were really good little travellers, considering the distance, and that this was all new for little Brodie.
Now that we're back, we've got several things to attend to ---- get Brodie enrolled in an obedience training class

get the v64 Zymolized and work on lowering it's Bridge height adjustments and then get some more pictures next weekend.
Re Jake's inquiry --- at this stage, the action is so low on the 480, that hands-down, those old-style High Gains, (with the strings close proximity) will likely out-blaze all others. I am going to have to lower the bridge height adjustment on the v64, so we'll see how the v64 sounds, when those strings get closer to the pickups. Probably the best evaluation process for this, Jake, is we get you out here for another Mini Con Jam

to give 'em the proper A-B testing !
