Hmm....360/12V64, mid-late 80's, with a converter comb added. Why.
Either that, or it's the real thing. Pic is a little iffy to see on my end.

Just throwing this out but i always thought someone could have made a more modern equivalent that would fit right under the strings next to the pickup for example a spring loaded comb that has a push and release system that no longer requires the arm....

I used to think that too Scotty. But I think with so much tension on it, it really needs that block glued under the top, with the retaining screw drilled into it. That's the last piece I have to do... I need to buy a bigger drill bit tonight after work!

FYI, all 336 and 366/12's had additional support blocks on the interior of the guitar to provide both strength from the extra tension and compression, as well as solid wood to mount the hardware on.

John, the two 12-strings I have currently (a '67 360/12 and a '68) both have the block in the body but were never converter models. Easier to make them all that way at the time, I suppose.

Thanks, everybody, for chiming in.
Here are some shots, one in progress, and two from tonight... finished!
I got all these parts except the comb/arm from Winfield Vintage. The comb/arm is an original, purchased recently from RIC-Outlet on eBay. Chip at W.V., fully aware of my plans from the word go, included a block of wood custom fit to this guitar's cavity. It fit perfectly!
Ok, I have to admit, it's not perfect. I was super careful, knowing that I was essentially drilling a bunch of holes in a $2K guitar. I followed the spirit of "measure twice, cut once." I taped where I'd be drilling, to secure the finish well (successful there). I pressed into the finish a point where I could start my drilling for each hole. But the pickguard holes, for some reason, just didn't line up quite right, hence the quirky angle of the upper/lower guards, in relation to the big white block that holds the comb and rail. But at the end of the day I'm very happy with it. I can't wait to play it next Tuesday at Arlington's "The 9" songwriter series - talk about just in time!
