How Are New Rics Assigned To Certain Dealers?

I am interested in buying a new model in a particular color. I am not seeking an outrageous purple paisley colored, five pickup Rickenbacker with glow in the dark pickguard. I just desire a common model in a standard factory color. After some research I have found a dealer that I would like to buy from, but he is unsure if he will be getting my particular model in my particular color. My question is how are these new manufactured Rics allocated to the various dealers? Can my seller put an order into Ric and specifically ask for a specific model/color? How does the distribution work with new models from the Ric factory?

Dealers get what they order. There is no "distribution process". Just call the dealer and see if they had ordered what you want at some point.

All of the current models and colours are fairly easy to source.
I wouldn't recommend ordering unless you are the dealers best friend.
What model/colour are you looking for Tommy, and where are you based?

Thanks for the replies, folks.
My dealer does not have in stock what I am seeking, but he asked me to call him back in mid-November. I will take your advice and call him sooner to make sure he can order one for his shop.

We ship dealers what they order, in the order that PO's are received.
If he orders you one in November, there's a moderate chance you'll see it by Christmas in 2012. Hopefully he mentioned that . . .
