My band covers this number, and we even recorded a version, but ours is faster (of course) and sounds almost Pogues-ish. :D

Thanks, Paul, for the link. Beautiful, chiming, 12-string sound! I'm embarrassed to admit I hadn't heard of Nick Heyward. I 'll have to look for him in the future! 8)

Actually, you have to look for him in the past. Nick may still be active today, but he made his mark - a pretty big one - as the lead singer/songwriter for the very popular '80s band Haircut 100. Exceptional pop band that had a number of hits in the UK and even had some songs that broke through in the USA.

This is their most famous tune. "Ring..ring..Ring..ring...," oh, everybody loved this tune and sang along back in the day. Perfectly crafted pop song with an insanely catchy chorus.
And Nick is even playing a Rickenbacker.

I can't get enough of this one, Paul! The 12-string is way out in front of the mix, as is not always the case. 8) I'll look for Haircut 10 on You Tube :!:

Probably anything off "From Monday to Sunday." Lots of 12 on that, IIRC; "Caravan" is another one with 12. A lot of his recordings have hooky guitar pop. Some of the earlier stuff from "North of a Miracle" or "I Love You Avenue" might have too much synth or horns, but the title track off the latter CD has pretty acoustic guitar parts in it. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I remember Haircut 100 from my MTV days, but, of course, back then, I wouldn't have recognized the 12-string parts. Sounds like there's lots of stuff to dig in to. By the way, is that a 370/12 in "He Doesn't Love You Like I Do"?

Live, definitely, and there's what sounds like a Rick 12 on the studio version.

My group recorded a version of the song, but ours is faster, has no piano, or clarinet. We did use a 12 string though. .. complemented with an overdriven Gretsch Silver Jet doubling the track. . .

I was looking for one online at one of our sites, but it's not posted.
