I've been working on a recording project for quite sometime now. And the light at the end of the tunnel I see isn't the approaching train, either. Pretty soon I'll be able to take the files from my TASCAM DP-07 Portastudio and dump them onto my computer for editing.

There are some pieces that form sections of a larger work, somewhat like the movements of a baroque dance suite that I want placed back to back. They were however recorded separately. This computer software or program that I'm looking for should allow me to position each track at just the right place using my mouse. Any suggestions?

There are probably better ones, but I use a free download of Audacity. I can load individual tracks or sub-mixes from my Korg deck into my computer and edit or mix them there with a mouse. I can also download tracks sent via e-mail or downloaded from websites, load them into my Korg for reference, record other tracks to go with them, load it all back into the computer, mix or edit it and send it back. Considering that the program didn't cost me a cent and I already had a USB cable, it's been quite handy.

I had an older version of Audacity that I uninstalled a few months ago. Maybe they've got a new and improved version. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
