sorry to post consecutive threads in this forum, but the issues are slightly different.

I've got an HB1 paired with a higain and a toaster. Unfortunately, the HB1 is out of phase with the higain and the toaster.

How do i reverse the phase?

I looked at the schematic but i'm not big on electronics. Do i need to swap the two south connections for two north connections? According to this schematic (http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdfs/19521-HB1%20Wiring.pdf) i join red and blue, black becomes the active and clear becomes the shield?

The answer is still the same on this thread, although I'll phrase it differently. Simply unsolder and reverse the connections between where red and green (or blue) are soldered.

The other question that someone asked you, that you didn't answer, is how do you know the phase is reversed? Reversing the leads like this is pretty well the only way to know, by listening to what happens to the sound.

okay, so the wire that's now on the active lug goes to the ground and vice versa?

Forgive me being dense, i am trying to understand.

when i run the neck HB1 and the bridge Higain together it sounds like they're out phase. I have a few Guilds which are wired out phase and similar in the middle position.

Yes, swap the wires as you stated.

My 650 came with HBs that sounded out of phase, but the wiring was correct. It ended up the the magnet was reversed. Swapping the wires as per RIC customer service advised corrected the issue.

i reversed the phase successfully and it sounds good now and i can combine the pickups properly.

To be honest, the answer to the earlier question from John Hall about "how do you know it's out of phase" is that it's obvious from the sound when the two pickups are combined.

Is the ground shield soldered to one of the leads? If it is, for safety, take the extra step and unsolder the ground shield and resolder it to your new ground.
