I'm all for recycling, but then again I do live in the Uk.

On electric guitars, I think construction is as much of a key to tone than the difference between Ebony, Rosewood or Maple fret boards, so I was wondering how these sound.

Recyling is great, but I like my guitars to be made of wood.

The three ZON basses I used to have have CF necks, and they too kicked donkey ! No *** for me!

The issue, IMO, is the quality and appropriateness of the substituted materials.

In this case, it's a FAIL.

Well, one could make the Danelectro and Steinberger arguments about resins and dodgy materials. Heck, for the price, it certainly seems intersting enough to play at a shop and see how it feels. Everybody loves to slam Gibsons price points, and here's one to give the 1500 dollar guitar limit buyer an American made option, so why not at least go try one if you have any interest in this style of guitar?

I played one today. The fingerboard is VERY cheap looking and dosen't feel good at all. It smells funny too. (Yeah, I smelled it. So what.)

I'm sorry to hear that. The synthetic fingerboard on my Martin D-18 feels great and looks like ebony, so I had hopes for Gibson's success here.
