Rick 350V63 and Bigsby B5

Hi everybody,
I heard from this forum, that there are difficulties in installing a Bigsby unit on the 350V63 because the bridge would be very near to the tension roll of the bigsby and so the angle of the strings would be very small. Has anybody already made this conversion and can tell me if this results in staying tuned problems ?

Well, I've done quite a few on 325s, which have the same body...no problems...yet...

Some 350 have a closer PU spacing. That fits exact the 325-way to the bigsby.
The wide PUed ones cause another angle. If this is better or not, no idea.

Any sharper angle than that on the 325 would be undesirable, in my book. String breakage a definite possibility on these; possible trouble returning to pitch, too.

Please compare the spacings, both 350s:
IMHO the high-gained one offers the 325 spacing.

Wow, look at the difference in the bridge location and the necks! I didn't know that 350 necks come in two flavors (21 frets & 24 frets).

Hi Folks,
Thanks all for answers ! Yes there are diofferent necks on 350`s, usually the 350V63 comes with a 21 feret neck and toaster pickups while the regular 350 uses Higainpickups and a 24 fret neck. so the one with toasters and 24 necks must be modified. But i am searching for a person who already did the modification on a 350V63 because the 325 differs sometimes and are not really comparable !

I am about to install the Bigsby on my Ric 350V63. It fits fine. The only "problem" is that there is a space (aprox 1/4 inch) between the guitar body and the screw hole at the very front of the Bigsby. This may sound serious, but it's only cosmetic. The other 3 screw holes are quite sufficient to hold down the Bigsby firmly. So I'm devising a way to create a hard plastic piece to fit under that front hole, then pre-drill it, then screw it in. I'll repost one I've done it. Actually, I have an expert carpenter helping me. God, the Bigsby looks great on the guitar!!!

Isn't there a mod to move that front screw to underneath the spring and cut off that lug altogether?
