My Blue Boy 360

I have a quick question about my Rick 360 Blue Boy. The serial # places it to early 2006, but it was the COY for 2004 in the US. Does this just mean that the guitar was ordered from a dealer sometime in '04, but it wasn't finished and delivered until sometime in early '06?

Mine came with hi gain pickups, but I put toasters in it. I'm not sure if all of the BBs for the US market came with toasters, or hi gains, or perhaps they built some with hi gains and others with toasters? I have no clue. I figure you guys would know.

I actually got the guitar from a dealer in the UK, and I had heard that a very limited number of BB guitars went over there in '02. I can only assume, though, that mine wasn't one from that particular batch. Maybe mine was exported to a UK dealer, but then made its way back to the US when I bought it (used, but pretty much mint condition)?

Just curious to get people's opinions.

Thanks,

Jeff

Yes.

Hi-gains were standard issue; toasters could be special ordered.

Your 2006 build was likely a COY order either to a UK dealer or that later found its way to the UK. The limited run of 40 Blue Boys for the UK (and another limited run of 40 for Japan) were both done in 2002.

Here's a photo of the top of a shipping box for one of the UK 2002 Blue Boys (a 360) delivered to Rosetti:

Wow, I have family in Braintree. What are the odds, huh? I should probably call them one year....

McCartney played a Rosetti before he took up bass. Same company?

I'd love to have a BB. Trade my JG for your BB ;-)

Thanks, everyone.

Yep, I saw that Rosetti box yesterday online, so I figured mine couldn't have been from that particular production run. I was just a little puzzled how mine ended up in the UK in '06, but now it seems pretty clear that it had to have been a dealer order from '04 that wasn't filled until early '06.

I really wish Rick would come up with more COY choices. It seems like there's a lot more they could do; I realize a lot of people, including myself, have their own ideas about what colors they'd like to see. My choices would be: another surf-ish green or mint green color, rose (not pink...darker than that), peach, light yellow (kind of like the pastel yellow VW bug color I see every now and then).

Fireglo, Jetglo, and Mapleglo are all certainly old standbys, but, man, add some more colors to the palette--at least every now and then. :)
