I did it as a member of the Cyclones back in the early 80s. The bassline was always cool to play

Great 70's pop. Sounding good, looking good!

Am I the only one wondering, how is it we had this a generation ago, and yet how did we get to today's trash... :?:

There was just as much (proportionally) horrible music then as there is now. Most of the great stuff just isn't on the charts or on the radio. You've gotta do more digging, but there is tons of incredible stuff being made all the time.

I promised myself I would be open minded and would do my best not to think like how most people think about the music of the generations that come after the time period when they were growing up. I do agree that I don't care for most of the music on the charts and commercial radio, but I agree with what Brian said. If you do some digging, poking and asking around, you'll find that some great music is still being made. I don't want to listen to the same old stuff all the time.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Personally that's why I like satellite radio. They have genre specific stations and play lots of tunes you wouldn't ordinarily here. I enjoy the Sirius XMU station because it plays a lot of Indie music but, they have metal, punk, country or whatever your heart desires.

Phil Manzanera played a 330/12 with Roxy music. It was Fireglo and had a bound neck with 20 frets(very odd). It later fell into Johnny Marr's hands and he used it with The Smiths.

First, Roxy Music was such a delight in many ways...the music of course but also as an introduction and launching pad for people like Phil M and Eno. Great tunes throughout and a constantly changing sound.

Second, while I mostly agree with your thoughts about Sirius/XM, I still am so frustrated that they ditched some of the best stations a few years ago: Beyond Jazz
Music Lab (Prog rock station)
The Latin Jazz station
etc.

It is a pale imitation of what used to be. Oh well.

Maybe 'cause it is? John Gustafson played the bass on that, the pic with the Ric features Sal Maida who played on the "Stranded" tour only.

+1000

And it doens't take that much digging, either...there is a phenomenal amount of amazing, creative, independent music available at the click of a mouse these days, I just wish I had enough hours in the day to keep up! I know every generation has its share of brilliant music, but digital recording and, more importantly, the internet as a conduit, have provided the tools to circumvent the major record labels and radio playlists and empower an army of musicians (young AND old alike) to create and disseminate their art. Combine that with online reviews, discussions, and recommendations, and it's not hard at all to find good music that agrees with your particular tastes.
