Lost RICs

What guitar or bass do you most regret selling or trading? I'm sure we've all got at least a few. Mine was an '86 330 which I traded in '91 for a 325v59, which I ended up trading for something else years later. It was ruby red with white plastic & a great tone, wish I still had it...

I had a 4003s MG in the early 90's that seem to have every magic Ric tone in it. Wish I still had it.

I regret selling:
'81 4001 Jetglo :(
'87 4003 Ruby :(
'88 330 Fireglo :(
'92 4003 Fireglo :)
I don't regret parting with the two '81 4003's that I had.
I have mixed feeling about the '99 Mapleglo 4003 that I'd sold.

I have no regrets. In fact, there's one sale I was happy to make. I sold the 360 to a friend who had bought as a present to himself on the fifth anniversary of his heart transplant.

I don't regret a lot of them, but a few really jump out at me:

- 1993 4001v63, which Da Modfather now rocks. I would love to buy it back someday. I used it on one of my favorite recordings and used to gig with it all the time. It had a great neck, a beautiful Fireglo, and a wonderful sound.

- 1987 381v69. This was a really magnificent guitar, and one of the earliest 381 reissues. Someone had put scatterwound Toasters in it, and paired with a Janglebox it made some wonderful noise. I also used this one on a lot of recordings and always got a great sound. (Apologies for the out-of-place cookers. What was I thinking?)

- 2004 660/12. Just a wonderful 12'er in every way.

I've parted ways with a few acoustic guitars. But I haven't thought about it until now. I guess that means I don't miss them. I don't think I'll ever sell my 360/12. I've managed to hang onto every other instrument that is special to me in one way or another.

Well JB, it did find it way to a loving home, it's well taken care of and does still get played. Your description of it is spot on. I love that pic you took of it as well as your flatwound string tone. Now it puts out roundwound string tone. It now also rests in the proper vintage style RIC case.

Traded a 325V59 MG for a US 52 reissue Tele  and sold the Tele a while after as i couldn't bond with the neck.

Then sold a perfectly good 330 JG, and then bought a std Fender Strat in ocean turquise met, only to have to sell that to pay for a bloody car repair bill, stupid.

I financed the remainder of my college education through the sale of my JG 450/12 around 1975. I consigned it through a local St. Louis guitar shop and have strong evidence that Stephen Stills bought it. At least it went to a good home. Although it took 36 years, I missed it so much I picked up a new MG 330/12 a year ago and just today Santa brought me a new JG 4003.

That V63 just knocks my socks off. Great tone, to boot!
