4003 truss rod concern (w/ pics)

Hello all!

'Headstock side' of truss rods is almost touching TRC on my 06' 4003 (if not already). Should I be worried?

Shouldn't be truss rods parallel with the neck?

Also...
As I have read, it is best to have Ric's neck set dead straight.
But after setting it straight (max.90°turn/day), neck literally rattles! I can feel and hear it. Especially on open E.
(Neck had slight relief before (up-bow))

I did try to losen/tight rods just slightly and adjust bridge height, hoping to get rid of neck buzz. Unsuccessfully.

I've read Rickenbrother's thread where he puts rods out and back in on his FL and gets rid of a rattle...
(btw, many thanks to Joey for his "Joey's bass notes" site and his youtube videos, much appreciated!)

Should I do the same (put them out&in), hopefully getting rid of a problem?
Or should I just set my Ric as it was previously? But I feel like I am missing something that way...

I would appreciate any help/advice...
Cheers,
M
