Author insanity
This will probably appeal more to the academically inclined among us, but i had to share. I ran across this citation on PubMed when doing a search, and it has to be the craziest number of authors I have ever seen on a research paper:

Re: Author insanity
Wowza; that's an encyclopedic citation of authors!
There is no reason to ever be bored.

Re: Author insanity
Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "designed by committee."
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Author insanity
That's probably a paper written by the whole town!

Hey!! They forgot to include MY name!
I like that, "PubMed". Sounds like a hangout for Tony! Does he play bass there?!

The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: Author insanity
What were they researching..........the genetics of the lunatic who brought them all together?

I always think that PubMed sounds like a place where one would say before every drink, "Here's to your health!" ...rickenbrother wrote:,,, I like that, "PubMed". Sounds like a hangout for Tony! Does he play bass there?!

Re: Author insanity
People will probably only remember Aaltonen.
I sure hope they get a Nobel prize for this.

Would they have to take turns with it?

Re: Author insanity
Does the number of authors relate in proportion to the level of plausible deniability?

Re: Author insanity
I guess this has so many authors because they recognized all the people required to do the experiment (is this LHC-related?), but I have been taught that just performing an experiment doesn't entitle you to authorship in all cases. Of course the "rules" on that vary from lab to lab.

Re: Author insanity
Ouch; I guess I'll never cite that work in one of my papers. We use a different reference style convention for author names and it would take a day just to reformat the reference citation.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?
