325 C 58 "Liverpool"???

Hello All,

As I understand it, 325 c 58 model Rics (in MapleGlo and JetGlo) came stock from the factory with a Kauffman Vib-Rola Tremolo and vintage repro roller bridge. Did they ever come with a Bigsby B5 instead of a Kauffman, and was this model called the "Liverpool" as opposed to the "Hamburg" (with the Kauffman and repro roller)? A guy I know is selling a guitar called a Maple Glo 325 C 58 "Liverpool", and I want to be sure it came from the factory this way instead of the B5 being a retro fit in case I want to resell it down the road. If it was a retro-fit, how much should this guitar sell for in mint condition with the original case ballpark?

Best,

-R

"Liverpool" is a modifier applied to a full-scale model 350 with 21 frets, not a vintage reissue 325.

There is a reference to "Hamburg" in the description of the 325C58 on the RIC website, but that model is not generally known as a "Hamburg" model: http://www.rickenbacker.com/model.asp?model=325C58JG

If it is truly a C58, it left the factory with a Kauffman vibrola unit. If it has a Bigsby, it was added afterwards. That is a popular mod as not many folks who play these want to deal with the Kauffman.

To a collector, the Bigsby will detract from value, if you will be playing it, it could be a welcome mod.

Ballpark sales price of a mint 325C58 all original with case, with only mod being the Bigsby, would be around $2200 IMO.

Edit: Liverpool = 24 frets.
