I just watched this wonderful documentary on Crackle.com. Maybe you've all seen it and I'm late again as usual, but if not I highly recommend this very detailed and meticulously produced film. Lots of Rick content, as well as a Paul Weller/Jam and David Bowie fix toward the end. You can watch it for free right now so catch it if you haven't, before it gets away.
Anyone know this film?

It centers on Townshend and the album, but covers all the Brit Invasion bands and has lots of analysis and clips of the film, before delving into the late Seventies' Mod Revival. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Edit: It has come to my attention that this link may not work outside the US. Bummer, lads, but look for it anyway.

It's very interesting to go back and look at the things that were happening while my back was turned.

the who, the mods, the jam - all the reasons I purchased my first Ric bass in '83.

quadraphenia was one of my favourite albums at school, all mod cons and weller shaped my youth, rickenbackers followed on from that.

unfortunately not, though they are back in vogue again and seem very tempting, even if I'm getting a bit old for playing at being a mod.

I'm about half way through it. I'll resume it later today, but so for so good.On a side note, I live a ferry ride away from Victoria B.C. where there's an annual scooter rally.Every May it's like a scene from London '64 with mirrors and parkas and Ben Shermans buzzing toward the boat

Great video, thanks for the link Kira!
Crackle is pretty cool too, I hadn't heard of it before.
That Bowie cover of Can't Explain is, quite possibly, the worst thing I've ever heard.

My old scooter club used to make the trek up to that rally every year. Those were the days!
