Best Fuzz for a Rickenbacker

I'm deciding between a fuzz face and a big muff. Both are current models and sound different. Any recommendations? I am looking for something more subtle, so I'm sort of leaning toward the fuzz face. I'd love to get that 60's garage sound (think satisfaction, psychotic reaction, ect.), but also want versatility and don't want to break the bank. Opinions?

Perhaps a Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive for something with more subtlety?

I've had great luck running treble p/u to a marshall 9000 rackmount guitar pre amp and neck pickup to ampeg portaflex stack. Using ric o sound to get ultimate mix of pure bottom and fuzz from the marshall. You could probably add a small guitar combo amp used for $100 to give you great fuzz without losing the bottom. Like hi-fi garage fuzz man

It's not a fuzz, but I like the ProCo Rat.

I have a Seymour Duncan Tweak fuzz that is quite versatile. from what I've gathered, they were recently discontinued. mine was the "stupid deal of the day" from a certain major online retailer. I think It was like $50.00 or less. try one of those if they have one at your local shop.

So many good ones, although I haven't tried many with my Ric yet.
Just in terms of grabbing that '60s psych/garage sound (which is what I'm all about!), you may want to check these out:
1) Analogman Peppermint Fuzz
2) Ashbass Fuzzbrite (Mosrite Fuzzrite clone)
3) Maestro Fuzz
Also check out some of the Creepy Fingers pedals. He builds excellent clones of many 60s pedals.

I love my Fender Sublime fuzz pedal. Sounds amazing on the bass.

My favorite too! Very versatile pedal. I mainly use it to blend in a little grit/distortion along with my clean sound.

I have been most impressed with the reissue of the black Russian Big Muff and the Way Huge Swollen Pickle MKII. The Pickle is super versatile but also has great tone, rather than a bunch of unusable options. The Black Russian is pretty hard to beat overall.
For some reason I didn't get along as well with the Bass Big Muff Pi, although I did get the appeal and it was pretty versatile. Just not voiced quite where my head was hearing the fuzz at any of its settings.

I tried lots of pedals, but ended up getting the MXR 108 Classic fuzz. Loved the button in the middle for songs where I only need a little fuzz, and the effect isn't too overpowering like the other fuzz pedals.

You should check out Basic Audio. His site comes up 1st with a google search of basic audio. I don't own one of their pedals, but was led to this company after reading a lot about fuzz pedals. He is almost completely dedicated to Fuzz and every possible permutation of Fuzz. I spoke with him for a little while. He would be able to tell you, definitely, what Fuzz would work best with a Rickenbacker. He will customize it how you want, and he has all sorts of options. As soon as I get around to buying a Fuzz, he is who I'm going to check out.
Edit: Oops, just saw that you already solved your Fuzz quest. Anyone else looking for Fuzz...try Basic audio maybe.
