4001 bridge p/up open

Hi guys...first post, hope I'm in the right thread. I have a ~1979 4001 that I bought new. It is in near mint shape (bridge p/up guard has a small wear spot). My bridge p/up has ceased to work so I had it looked at...the p/up is open.
I can get it rewound from a reputable source (~$50) or pay for a new one, but a new one is ~$200.00 (correct?).
If I opt for the rewind, will it negate the value of the guitar?
Your comments are appreciated.

Welcome Jim!

IMHO a rewound vintage pickup should not have a major impact on your bass's value, particularly if it is wound to vintage spec (around 7-7.5 kohms using 42 gauge wire). The new pickups are wound to around 13kohms and sound "fatter". In any event a rewound pickup is better than a dead one!
