Hey guys,

The search was long and hard, but I finally found my dream Rickenbacker 360-12 at a good price. I'm digging the heck out of it. I'm planning on getting a Janglebox sometime in the near future, and I might decide to go for the Toasters as well. But right now, she's sounding like a dream through my '72 Twin Reverb.
I'm excited to be a part of this forum, now I finally have a Rickenbacker that I can call my own.

Looking at that picture of yours I feel that instead of buying a Ric you should have spent your money on getting your floor level!

Ah, but congratulations anyway. Looks cool and playing it through a Fender is a fine thing.

Congrats on the new guitar Toby... Yes a RIC 12 string is a fine "jangle" machine... :P :P

Thanks to you all for the warm welcomes. It feels good to be able to join the club. The Rickenbacker truly sounds great through the Twin. I'm now looking at possibly getting a set of toasters for mine. I'm wanting a little more Byrds/Petty/Beatles vibe. Would the Toasters plus a Janglebox get me all the way there? The high gains don't necessarily sound bad. They just don't sound as punchy as I'd like. But I don't have a compressor to run through yet either.

Welcome Toby. I would evaluate your sound with a compressor added before I immediately jumped to toasters. Toasters are terrific, however, with a Rickenbacker 12 string. You have to love the Twin Reverb.

Welcome aboard, Toby! Rickenbacker guitars and Fender amps are a natural match. Get yourself a pair of 7.4K toasters and a Janglebox, and you'll be well on your way to jangle heaven. I also recommend a thin flatpick, like a Dunlop .50mm one. Have you tried Thomastik Infeld flatwound strings?

So, it's okay for me to assume that the Janglebox is the go-to compressor for a Rick? Any difference between the Silver ones, and the black ones, obviously besides the silver Jangleboxes being made overseas?

Robert,

Thankfully, I did my research and when I got home with my new Ric, I had a nice set of TI flats from Pick Of The Ricks waiting on me. Now, restringing was a heck of a job. But the flats certainly improved the feel, in my personal opinion. I normally use .63 Clayton Triangle picks, but I might be tempted to try some thinner ones here pretty soon.

Thanks,

Toby

hi, patrick. it seems that, in the ric world, janglebox reigns supreme. the claim, as you surely know, is that the offshore jb gives up nothing but cost.

i bypassed the whole issue and went with the jb2. 8)

sounds purdy awesome with my new 330/12 and princeton reverb.

welcome to rrf! eljayski
