I have a new 360/12 and am wondering about 1) Strings - I've heard Thomastik or Pyramid Gold flat-wound are the best - but have also heard dire warnings about needing to alter the set-up. I have no clue about changing the set-up and am not likely to to find anyone nearby who can handle this; and 2) Capo - what works best? Thanks

Capos - just get a Kyser. They are quick to use, cheap, do the job, and you can buy one in a color that matches your guitar.

A lot of folks on the forum swear by TI flats. There are also some other good strings on the market from Pick of the Ricks. I like the Curt Mangan strings.

As far as capos go, Keyser's are good, so is Shubb, and there's another one called the G7th, I believe that some folks like. They all do about the same thing.

I have both a Kyser [correct spelling - sorry Jim! ] and a G7th and they perform the task well. IIRC the Kyser is less expensive.

As far as strings, the Rickenbacker set is very good. I have tried Pyramids, and although they are nice when freshly installed, they seem to feel stiff as they age. (Oddly enough, the Pyramid 6-string set on my 1998PT still feel and play great, and they've been on it quite some time!).

BTW, we love seeing pictures of everyone's Rickenbackers, so please post a picture of yours for us!

I've used the TI flats on my 620-12 since I got it a year ago, on the recommendation of many here. While I don't have any other points of comparison, I can say that the TIs are really, really nice both in terms of feel and sound. However, since I had Chris at PoTR put them on when he did the original setup I can't really say how much adjustment was necessary.

+1 - Easy to use and adjust to different guitars.

I use D'Addarios on my sixers, half-rounds or flats, and TI flats on my twelver. G7th is a great capo.

The TI flats offer the typical old school sound. Warm and bright great jazzy tone, long lasting and easy to play. Especially when You play sometimes rough things there is no rattle or buzz that a lot of roundwounds produce.
Even distorted the sound is great. - No fizzy harshness at all.

The Shubb is a great little capo. As small as a capo can be (it does not get in the way like a lot of other capos), very durable, easy and stepless to adjust and no sharp edges that can scratch the guitar. If not in use You can mount it easily in You back pocket. The tune stays very well. Another benefit: The pressure is not created by a "ignorant" spring, You adjust the pressure with the screw so it fits to every guitar at every fret without tuning problems. Simple and perfect.

The TI strings and the Shubb capo are not really cheap but worth every penny! - Like Rickenbackers.

Schubb for me ! The best I've ever had !!!

Kysers and Ernie Ball 11's.

Capo? Shubb. Kysers are real effective, but so would be a jumper cable clamp.

G7th definitely the best capo I've owned...compact but solid feel and seems engineered to last

I use a Kyser or the G7 Nashville; both are a clamp type; easy on/off whilst playing live. I also have a Schubb, a Dunlop, and a Planet Waves. The Kyser and G7 Nashvillle work best for me live-speedy!
