Good on ya!
I hope it is a great show! Enjoy it for us!
I have heard great things about Jon Davison's performance in the first two gigs and I agreed after hearing some of the bits on the web.
Please be sure to post your review here.

I just read even more, positive reviews about Jon Davison. It sounds like he is really getting comfortable. Folks praise his phrasing and pitch in particular. Some grumbles though about Geoff's Keyboards being too quiet in the mix...even from Geoff himself!
(I noticed that Oliver's keys were too low in the mix when I saw them last...seems to be an issue.)

Ok.....

The Set list: and this is by memory and not in order......

All good people
Tempus fugit
Life on a Film set
Steves solo bit, Solitare and another one from one of his albums
And you and I
Wonderous stories
Into the storm
Fly from Here (the whole extended song)
Heart of the Sunrise
Starship Trooper
Owner of a Lonely Heart
Roundabout

I may have missed one or two but it gives you an idea....

Now how did they go?

Well the rumours are true. Jon Davidson is damn good, Good range and pitch and does sound like Jon Anderson in the 70s (however he looks like Geddy Lee in the 70s) His stage manner and presence is comfortable and not awkward like Beinot David (not that it should matter though) And it looked as though he was impressing the other chaps too.. (he plays useful stuff on the guitar as well)

Chris was larger than life and as hammy as usual... (nothing new there) He sang really well, though like a previous video shows for some reason he sings flat on Fly from Here (just the first part)

Steve was a bit more upbeat than he usually is and looked very happy with the situation..

Alan was Immaculate and precice, always the tightest palyer (although I actually saw him make a tiny mistake)

Geoff had his usual pizazz, and could show off when neccessary, Apart from playing in his own style he could mimic Rick's and Tony's lines and make it sound convincing.

Now the mix...

Actually quite a bit better than when I saw them last (in 2003)
Steve's sound was clear and that line6 amp is very good! he used a 3 pickup 175 looking thing, a 50s looking Les Paul Custom (two P-90s) his Red Strat, and the Line6 (for acoustic moments) and some special looking acoustic for his solo spot, also lets not forget the Fender Steel...

Chris mostly used the RM, and it cut through. There was also a welcome return of the Mouridian CS74 which he used on "Life on a film set" and "Owner of a Lonely Heart". The green Tobias was used on a stand for "Sad night at the airfield" all well mixed and clear... There were however a few "Death by taurus pedal" moments that made me feel excited and quite ill at the same time...

Alan was very well mixed. His snare was a wonder, although the Kick was a weapon of mass destruction...

Geoff had a few stand out moments. Sadly he could have been a bit clearer or louder (like others have suggested)

Now here is a Scoop, Chris introduced Jon as "Our New Lead Singer", not someone who is singing for us.. Jon Sounded fantastic and made very few blooters (less than Chris, Steve and Geoff). And both Steve and Chris said "We will see you next time" in a manner that suggested "we aint finished yet"

All in all, five guys having fun doing what they do best!

Some quick clips that will give you just a bit of an idea on the sound (via my $40 ALDI camera):

Sorry about the distorted sound....

Eden.

Yep, just a teaser. I don't wish to be someone posting dodgy concerts on the tube...
