Are they really going for $300???? My word I got my first Ric for $100 more than that. Unreal. I mean...it is a really really nice case....... but $300!!!!

Indeed....... But I can tell you there is a better chance of me finding a $400 Ric or you finding $.15 a gallon gas than there is of me forking out $300 for a Tolex case. And I REALLY like Tolex cases! ;0)collin wrote:How many years has it been since you bought a Rick bass for $400?
What's the world coming to.....gas used to be 15 cents a gallon....get off my lawn!![]()

I didn't get the impression that JH said the SKB cases were sturdier that the vintage, just that they provide more protection. With the form-fitting interior, that is believable. Guitars can move around a bit in the vintage style, which can cause issues.collin wrote:ilan wrote:Read this post from John Hall... bottom line: the SKB type case is more sturdy than the vintage type.
Well, i've seen SKB cases crack apart....can't say i've seen even a 50 year old Victoria/G&G "Vintage" type do that.
Just went up to 17ยข/gallon!chefothefuture wrote:jps wrote:Scott, PM sent.

You have 15 cent/gallon gas?
Next time you visit, we'll show you the damaged cases rack and make a believer out of you. I will concede that the feet of the SKB's are more delicate, however, SKB has done some work to beef that area up. The case sizes on some models have also been increased recently to add more padding between the instrument and the valance.collin wrote:ilan wrote:Read this post from John Hall... bottom line: the SKB type case is more sturdy than the vintage type.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I can have either case I want for my instruments (I know someone!) and the majority of them are in SKB's.
