Tuning down to Eb?

On my 2011 JG Ric, the tension was a bit more than I liked....I am guessing it was the type of strings (which brand I am unaware of). So I decided to tune that one down to Eb since one of my steady gigs is tuned to Eb. I did it and it plays fine, no buzzing and it plays just great. Just making sure that by tuning it down a half step that I wasn't going to hurt anything on the Ric. I know most of my bolt-ons handle it fine...but just thought I would ask....

My V63's have been tuned like that since 2004. No problems.

Yep, my whole fleet's been tuned to Eb since the mid 90's. No worries. In fact I'd hazard a guess that it has improved their general health a bit!

Scott, I was just there on Wednesday. Great store! If you ever want to get together to talk Ricks, let me know. If you get a chance, pick up a copy of this week's Style Weekly magazine. It's the music issue, and my band is featured. Track 14, Andy Vaughan & the Driveline.

I used to tune my 4003 DGCF. I used slightly heavier strings to make the tension feel standard. I never had a problem.
Fear not! Your bass will be fine!
