Where to find left handed 4003?

Hi from Spain, i get one 2001 4003 FG lefthanded, second hand, on a web in spain on September for 1500 Euros.
I took it to the luthier and he told me it was a really good price for it, it was in perfect conditions,
only had to re-set truss rod a little and it was 100% perfect sound.
My question is: Where i cand find left handed 4003 ones?. I search on ebay, local second hand webs,
and all google around, and no ric seems to appear. And when i see some offer it is extremely expensive...
Im not a fulltime player, only play at home for fun, and i take really big care for my two bass, the expensive one (4003)
and the cheap one, but i think would be a good idea buying more left handed for i see they're real rare ones on second hand
and absolutely impossible to buy one new from spain. All distributors tell me the same... "left handed 4003?, new?, forget it".
Thanks.

Hi Fran,
If you have been reading the postings lately on the Forum you will be pleased to hear that Rickenbacker have announced that they intend to re-commence the production of Left Hand 4003's later this year. I don't know what the distribution of Rickenbacker guitars & basses is like in Spain, you will just have to keep a look out for them and I am sure you will get one in time. If getting one in Spain is a bit difficult it may be worth seeing if you can pick one up from the UK.
In all reality it will probably be sometime next year before you start seeing any of the new production models in Europe.
Cheers.

Fran,
Hello from another Lefty player!!!! There was a Lefty 4003 on Ebay just recently---I always check there to see what Lefty Rics are there if any.
The 4003 was located at a British Shop called- Sound Me Out.
Not sure they still have it, but it might be worth calling them.
I just heard from an excellent source that....Rickenbacker will start taking orders for Lefty basses at the end of this year.
Best of Luck to you in your search.

Welcome to the forum, Fran! Have patience. I know it's probably not so easy to get Ricks in Spain. I think RIC plans on producing some left handed 4003's in the near future.

I know Sound Me out very well, as far as I know they still have the 4001 Fireglo Lefty as it didn't sell on E-Bay. I have seen and played the bass actually, it is really nice to play and has a superb tone!

When you say '"taking orders" do you mean people's individual orders via a Ric store or them taking orders from Ric distributors for general sale/distribution to stores?

What I meant by taking orders was.......Rickenbacker will begin taking orders from music stores---at the end of this year.
So, it won't be until sometime next year where they should begin showing up.
This was told to me by Chris at Pick Of The Ricks in New Jersey.
Also.....I forgot that it was actually a 4001, NOT a 4003 at Sound Me Out. Mid to late 70's...right????
Two of my Ricks are 4001's from that era. Nice basses!!!!!
