V63 Horseshoe Bobbin and Coil Needed

Hello everyone. Long time lurker/first time poster. I love this board - learned so much from all you guys.

I have a horseshoe and mounting ring for a V63 I picked up about a year ago but it didn't have the base or bobbin. I can make a base if I know hole locations and sizes but I have no experience with making pickups. Is there someone who offers a bobbin/coil replacement or who can make one for a reasonable cost? I'd love to get this pickup in my bass.

Thanks, Steve.
Hi, Jeff. Well, for starters you can forget about money - I don't charge anything to fellow Rick owners/players. Secondly, no doubt I can make you a replacement coil/bobbin assembly, but first I need to know some details. Can you e-mail me a dimensioned side view of both horseshoes in the assembled position (I assume the V63 came with both), plus dimensions, so that I know exactly how tall I can make the pickup bobbin? Also, let me know the string spacing on your V63 at the horseshoe pickup location (= the distance between the E and the G strings).

Wow! I'm bowled over. This is great. Thank you Sergio! I will work on a drawing for you and get the dimensions to you ASAP. What I have are both horseshoes, mounting bezel, screws and springs. I don't have the coil or base plate. I don't have the V63 bass - just the pickup parts.

Before you commit to making it though I would like to describe the project to you. It's not exactly standard. This pickup will go in my second RIC bass. I recently got an old 3000 that had suffered extensive mods to the body by someone trying to turn it into a P-bass. The original pickguard and electronics were long gone. The body had suffered the violations of chisels and the drill press.

I decided to make a new body which is now done. I also decided to go with a single, classic RIC treble pickup ala the 4000. To get the position right I took measurements from my first RIC bass (a 75 4001) and used the ratio to the scale length to come up with the proper location on the short scale 3000. I've assembled everything during the fabrication phase and it looks good. I will be starting my finish sanding this weekend. When I get it further along I plan to take some pics and post them here.
