Beside the color and the pickguard...

Not much! Obviously the color and the pickguard; also, the fretboard and headstock wings are made of Vermillion rather than typical Bubinga.

Thanks.
Suddenly the "must have" syndrom for a CS is fading away.

They are great looking basses, but the v63 will get you there.

I'll get a CS someday, but the V's sure are sweet!

Isn't the CS body/neck a bit more thin than the v63?

Didn't do measurements but my V63 and CS both look and feel identical in size.

Both varied through their run. Generally, '80's to early '90's versions had slimmer neck profiles than later versions for both models.

The Vermillion on the CS does it for me, but did we not have a thread recently, where an early V63 had a very Vermillion looking board and wings?.
Oh, early CS had the 60's long headstock.

So did the V's. The headstock that is.
My '93 may have been the one that we were talking about with a "possible" vermillion board. The wings are definitely walnut though.
This board is "redder" than any other V board I've seen.

When I had this beauty at MARF II, I put it next to a CS and we decided the board is bubinga, but a very different graining than typical and indeed more redder. But the vermillion has a different look/grain.
Kev, as I scrolled this thread before reading, I saw the grain of the maple at the body joint in the above pic and knew the bass immediately.

I must agree that the CS looks great.
