Wilco's John Stirrat was a Ric fan in high school ;0)

I went to high school with John Stirrat and his sister Laurie and they were both Ric fans. I purchased my first real bass from John...he was a few years older than me and was in a band already and sold me his old Carvin LB40 bass. I remember he and Laurie came into a local guitar shop where I was working and they had what I remember to be a black 360/12 with them. That was the first Ric I had ever seen in person. I remember him being really into REM as was I back then. Not sure if he ever played a Ric bass but I remember talking about our shared appreciation for all things Ric.

In the vid of I Love My Label, he plays a Gibson LP Sig (the oe which is later reissued as Jack Casady Sig; he plays the LP on a lot of The Whole Love) but also footage in that vid of John on a 4005WB. I interviewed him. It belongs to Jeff.

Nice. I loved the Hilltops and Blue Mtn. Big Wilco fan, too. Need to learn more about the Autumn Defense.
