Hello to everyone...This is my first post here as I've watched this site for a while, and have gotten some great info on Rick basses...So I've decided to jump in...I've been primarily a Fender bass player for many years, but have always had that distant thing for Rics..However,As of late,I've been fast becoming a serious Rickenbacker admirer...Man,what have I been missing...After searching for some time, Just located and purchased a 99' V63 Fireglo 4001..Played a friends' a couple of years ago,and have gassed for one ever since...IMO,What a great player, a work of art... and for me,it just had to be Fireglo...should have it in about a week...I've noticed that the majority of these basses seem to come in MG...I'm guessing not too many were made in FG?? Am I correct? I've also seen a couple in some custom colors as well...Thanks for this great site, and info...and please bear with me as I try to catch up on some of this great stuff here..

Hey Wayne,

I've got a 98 4001v63 in Fireglo. I was always under the impression that the MG version was produced/ordered in higher numbers because that's what color Macca's bass is now and, for the most part, has been. Its any interesting question, maybe JH could give us some final production numbers...

Hey, I would like to know that too Matt! I've got a '97 4001v63FG. I think MG had to have been the most popular finish, that or Jetglo.

Welcome Wayne, I'm sure you'll love your V63. I have one myself finished in mapleglow. I chose this finish because I think it showcases the walnut headstock wings best.

Party on Wayne!

You're gonna love that V63. Dunno about the colors but haven't seen a lot of JG's.

Now if I could get a V63 JG Shadow, Spirit of 76 RIC Anniversary Ltd Ed, hand delivered by Chris Squire/Sr Paul/Geddy Lee/Roger Glover by UPS 2nd-no damage

I agree...,The Walnut wings is my favorite thing (cosmetically) about the bass... The V63 that I first played,(my buddys' ) was Turquoise....really beautiful...have not seen another in that color....Thanks for the welcomes....
