New Pedal, well, new for me!

OK, hold on to your hats! I purchased a pedal!! Yes, it's big news for me since I'm really not very technologically inclined! It's a Punch Factory by Aphex. I know a bunch of guys here use them so I went to their website to see what they actually do. it all made sense and I figured I'd ease myself into the world of effects slowly. This seemed like the logical first step.

Any tips on them or things I need to know? Next up is a fuzz and maybe a tuner pedal. We'll see how this works out first.

Sepp is it the original orange one or the new silver art-deco kinda looking one?
I have the orange one. I just dial it in to what sounds good to my ears.

This all that is really needed, these compressors sound excellent. The only thing I did, after setting the drive using my ears and the LED meter to see approximately how much gain reduction I was getting, was to switch between the bypassed and compressed sounds to get a general match for the volume (gain make-up) control when plucking with a fairly normal attack on the strings. Of course, this not necessary, as you can add more gain to make yourself louder if you want.

Joey,

It's the newer silver one. it seems the case has gone through a redesign. There are three dials on it now, I think there use to be only 2, and the db scale. It looks to have a bigger foot print than the orange model. There was a great price on it on ebay from a music store so I jumped on it.

I saw that you own one as do several other members so I figured it's got to work well with Rickenbackers.

Jeff, thanks for the info. There is a good tutorial on it on the Aphix website so I hope that too will assist me in figuring out where it sounds best.

I see they added a compression ratio control, too bad it does not have calibrated markings on it.
