I was tracking this one on eBay UK, Peter. Looks like a nice example, with everything original and as it should be - and at a good price! Good luck with your acquisition!

Will You keep the Kaufmann-Vibrato?

Hello at all,

Yes a good price, because he wanted about 2500 GBP in his store, but this was too much for me. Yes, I wil go and "lennonize" this guitar to fit it to my other two guitars. One reason is that Lennon never had the guitar in black with the Kaufmann Vibrola (By the way this dammned thing sucks !!). Though you can read in the Rickenbacker describtion that it is an exact replica of the guitar John bought in Hamburg 1958 (It is not true, it was 1960). So the only exact replika is the alderglo model !
By the way,i would like very much to be an instrument builder, but am not. So i carefully modify sonme of my guitars, always with love !!

Thank you all !!

Peter, I wish you lots of fun with your C58. These are sweet little guitars! :) I have a V59 and a 320 which I love, but I really like the lightness of a C58. Very different feeling. 8)

@Peter: You are right, Lennon bought his 325 in 1960. But this particular guitar was a 1958 model, even so.
- More or less a shelf warmer from a fair in 1958. Some mix these both dates from time to time.

Please be careful in using the Kaufmann it can cause ugly scratches.

@Kira: Can You describe the result of the different crown radius?

Hi Sascha,
Ich werde das Kaufmann nicht benutzen und den Hebel gleich entfernen bis ich das Bigsby geordert habe. Bei meiner früheren 325 wurde die Rändelschraube von vornherein gekürzt !

Liebe Grüße

peter

Sorry for falling back in my motherlanguage !

How about the trapeze tailpiece, must look great, too! And completely reversible!

Supposedly there is a way to lock the Kaufman so it no longer works... (A sharp knock with a hammer according to a thread on the RIC corporate site)

Simplest might be to swap it out for a trapeze... :D :D

Remember this was a historically accurate reproduction of a poor design.

Hello,
I think if i tune the bass strings it seems that the treble strings are higher in pitch an vice versa.
If it was something else it would be not the case, that the strings detune to the higher pitch, but detune to lower pitch, isnt it ?

Thanks for the help

Careful or with love... check out eBay how many items were carefully modified with love to something of a non-original monstrosity!

A Bigbsy will be non-reversible, and will bring down the value imo, rather than improve it.
the guitar looks great as it is - if you don't like the Kaufman, install a trapeze!
