I have been gas'ing over a 'Tuxedo' White with black guard 330 ever since I saw one. Its my favourite Ric.

I am chuffed to bits with my Ric's I have just now: an '09 360/12MG, and a '11 330/6FG.

I have alot of spare parts from these guitars, and I am thinking if I managed to get a 330 body/neck for a good price, I could build some of it up with my spare parts. I intend to have both my current Ric's setup with toasters, so having antoehr 330 with high gains wouldnt hurt (thats what I am telling my self I am able to justify having another one anyway :P )

Is a respray to a Rickenbacker a challenging job? I dont like when the tuxedos 'yellow' with age due to the nitro, would it be better do get a poly finish, or is that taking away from the Ric feel? I have a guy respraying a Gibson 335 for me at the moment, so if its a good job (which im expecting going by his reputation), I think I would give him the job.

I also see alot of tuxedos with and without black hardware ie. the R tailpiece, pickup covers etc. not sure what I prefer, hence the pic request :D

Thanks for that.

I'm thinking I prefer the chrome trim. Just breaks it up a bit.

Can anyone tell me their experience with getting their Ric resprayed, and what finish? I want to keep it as white as possible for as long as possible, but would prefer to keep with a nitro feel?

I don't think RIC has used nitro for many decades. Since the 60's they have used Conversion Varnish, which I believe is a poly finish, until recently when they changed over to a new UV cured finishing process. It was the clear coats of CV that yellowed over time.

There is alot of information about refinishing Ricks here:

Non-yellowing Conversion Varnish is available - our own Paul Wilczynski uses it often on his refins.
