Hello,

I saw that there is no possibility to screw the pickup any lower without removing the rubber gommets. My neck is really straight and the nut is filed properly in my opinion. I already filed my Bigsby bridge in the outer part a little bit and it is about 2 mm lower, thats quite a lot better ! But again: are there any standard measures ? I also think, that the neck is slimmer than the neck of my alderglo 325c58, i thought they should be similar !

Thanks

Peter

Most "good" setups I have played on fretted instruments (especially guitar and bass) leave anywhere from 0.5-2 mm of action measured from the fret (fingerboard if fretless) at the maximum, and the neck angle is such that there is a "plateau" in the action around the 12th-15th frets. How much action you end up needing is style-dependent and should be determined more by relief than messing with the bridge ideally (IMO). I would consider more than 3 mm of action from the fret on just about any instrument rather excessive.

I'm just a bassist but I set up instruments for guitarists all the time and they seem to like the way I do things for them.

As for necks, on Rics they can vary quite a lot from year to year although maybe less so in recent years.
