New 360 owner 1996 Model Help

Hi..Sorry if this has been posted before and being as it's my first post I might be breaking the rules so I can only appologise.
I have recently purchased a 1996 360 Jetglo. Thrilled with it and glad to have finally got rid of my Les on the trade in. One thing that I am uncertain about is the Pick Up configuration. I might be being stupid but is it normal for the neck pick up not to work when plugged into one of the jack plugs? Is this to do witht the Rik-o-sound stereo option? And which should I be using? Just a bit worried that I it's guuna cost to get fixed if indeed it is a fault. If it isn't a fault...What is the reason for this?
Cheers
Marr

Nick it is normal...
There are two jacks - Normal and "Ric o Sound". A standard cable works fine in the normal jack but only gives one pick up when plugged into Ric o Sound...
You need a special cable to get both pick ups from that jack...
Don't stress!!

Welcome to the forum!
Yes, it's normal. If you are using a "standard" mono guitar cable, you should be using the "Standard" output jack. This is the one that is closest to the strap peg. The Rick-O-Sound output is for use with a stereo cable and puts one pickup on each "channel" of the stereo cable. If you plug a mono cable into this jack it will short one of the pickups to ground and you will only get output from the other pickup...

Ahh..Thanks Brian and CJ..I thought I was worrying for nothing! I've had a few 330's which obviously doesn't have the Rik-o-Sound set up. There just seems to be a lack of info on the official site and the store in Sheffield, UK where I got it from didn't have a clue! Everyone seems to be an expert on Fender..Gibson etc but when it comes to these beauties they don't have a clue..
Thanks again guys.

Hey Nick, congrats on your 360! I did exactly the same thing you did when I first got my 360/12.

Luckily, the Rickenbacker Owner's Manual does clear it up. Check it out from the Rickenbacker website (look at the Rick-O-Sound section on page 5):

All the best,
Simon

Welcome, Nick!
I agree with Simon, download the manual and read it - it will explain all!

As stated, it's all in the manual, which is available on the official site. Read it cover to cover a few times. It's actually interesting reading for Rick nerds like me/us.
Just use the standard jack for now until you get the right kind of stereo cable for the R-O-S jack (several options are available). Another thing to remember is don't plug two cables into both jacks at the same time. I've heard of some other Rick owners who hadn't read the manual try this.
