Indeed...I had a Mastery on my '65 Jaguar and it was quite and impressive piece. Worked great and I noticed an improvement in tone immediately.

Not cheap, though - $165.

I wonder if a 12-string version would follow?

I'm happy with my current bridge; my old 330 did have some bridge rattle ghosts that popped up from time to time.

Honestly, I think $165 is a bargain considering the engineering and fabrication in building that. Looks top-notch. Not cheap, but still a bargain..

That would be a twelve-saddle bridge, right?

It looks quite nice and I can see some advantages, especially in the mass of the saddles.

However, looking at this preliminary drawing, I'd say that saddle adjustment travel is roughly half that of the standard bridge. With most strings sets this won't be a problem but most of the so-called "hand made" sets will run out of range and/or require moving the location of the entire bridge assembly.

With a standard, quality round wound set I would expect this to intonate successfully and have a solid, meaty sound rather than the typical jangle many have come to expect. Probably rather nice for leads. My best guess is that light weight flat wound string users might not be so enthusiastic as midrange tones will likely be accentuated.

+1 on the round wounds, but luckily that means most players in general. Hope it does give a meatier sound! It's much more high-tech than the Tune-o-matic conversion.


+100 on having this as a 12-saddle bridge. It doesn't look like there would be room to make a 12-saddle version, which is a shame because that's where having the Mastery bridge would benefit the most, IMO.

Based on what Mr. Hall wrote, I will probably stay away from this. I actually like the six saddle bridge on my strings, particularly the c63 bridge!

Interesting, I would give it a try as long as there's no drilling involved installing the baseplate

That locking baseplate is a brilliant idea, wish Rickenbacker would have come up with that. If he sells those seperately from the bridge I will be picking one up.

A fresh new bridge design. Don't it always seem to go that the tone we love changes with newer materials and designs. I will be most interested in hearing the reviews with regard to tone and playability from those who install them. I would like to experience the difference it might make on my 350.

From my perspective, between all that maple and the pickups being screwed right into the top, I want the bridge to bleed off some of that string energy.

I agree it's a very practical and useful thing to have, but in my humble, personal opinion, it will marr the sleek and shiny look of my Rics to have those little black set screws on the side of the bridge plate...
