just purchased a new 4003 mapleglo 2012 , stunning looking and sounding bass , great set up out the box just changed the strings and adjusted the treble pick up and that was it felt at home on it straight away. the bass was manufactured 3 weeks ago and it was delivered from the rickenbacker uk rep. fantastic.

Yup. I bought on January, 2012 model 4003 in July, and it's great! A Mapleglo like yours, too! :D

thanks guys, i noticed the headstock stripes are of a lighter wood on this bass but the grain on the neck is just incredible.

Nice bass indeed.

Ditto for the head stripes.

The new type of rosewood used is also a very nice addition.

All is left to perfection is:

-checkerboard binding
-ditch the double hump pickguard and go back to the old style

Amen to that. I'd add the 1/2" spacing for the neck pickup, but with a kinder, gentler rout. Also, RIC is looking for the right raw materials to make the 60s-look inlays again.

I'm hoping for all four.

Yep I forgot about those two...

I never understood why they remove so much wood for the neck pickup routing. There is not much surface area left near the neck heel to have a very good glue bonding with the ''small horn side''. If ever what I am trying to say make sense...
