You know honestly I never really have gotten into Chris Squire much, I've checked him out a few times but never was an influence or anything. I'm all about Cliff Burton, John Entwistle, Robert Deleo/James Jamerson

Well its a coincidence then.. I think its either "ritual" or "the ancient".. but there are some very similiar riffs

Yeah! Nice job rocking the fuzz tone! Totally hearing the Cliff coming through.

Brian - I totally hear the Squire connection, too. There's a passage from Ritual where he goes off that sounds reminiscent of Jake's jam. I think it's right before the tribal drum section.

This is a live performance of 'Ritual' from 1975. Not a note-for-note comparison, but this came to mind after hearing your jam, Jake.

Squire's jam starts at 3:17

Wow! I've never even heard that or anything and it does sound very similar haha. Crazy how things turn out sometimes ;) Thanks for the video man!

Right Jake? Sort of brings up the whole "Great minds think alike" scenario.

I wonder if Cliffy was a Squire fan... that would establish kind of a cool line of progression.

By the way - have you guys played in the NYC area? I swear I've heard that "REALITY" hook before.

Hmm... I think Chris might have influenced Cliff, he used phasers, wah pedal and fuzz which Cliff used in his solos so I can see that! We haven't been to NYC yet but we are planning it, my guitarist's old band called Devil Moto went there I think a few years ago, they may have used some of those lyrics back then, wouldn't surprise me one bit! The reason for posting that clip was I always see/hear a bunch of players with Rickenbackers but rarely do I see a video of someone rockin the rick with distortion and aggressiveness in a solo so I thought I'd give it a spin ;)

Youtube can never suffer from too much Rick in my opinion!

I played around with some distortion and auto-wah on my cover of 'Siberian Khatru.' Wish I still had my real wah pedal - I'll have to get another one one of these days.

The fuzz kicks in at around 7 minutes and comes back in towards the end:
