Wondering about those of you who put HB-1s in your 360 or 330. I know a few have tried this.

How did the sound compare to you, and - perhaps most importantly - did you have to change all your pots (up to 500k)?

I put a 15k Ω HB1 in the Bridge position on my 1981 370 WB and its great for beefier tone and punch :)
(The Neck and Middle pickups are Toasterized 11k and 12k Ω High Gains).
I have not changed the pots around yet ..... one of those things to get to one of these days ..... on my "to do" list.

I tried a 15kohm HB-1 in my 320 and my 360-12WB FG ckbd. More mid beef. Less top end jangle. It sounded remarkably similar to the DiMarzio "FRED" humbucker pickup. If I played a 330 on stage as my main guitar, I'd consider it, but only if it had about 13kohms' worth of wire so the mid peak wasn't so pronounced.

Conversely, I have a 14kohm HB-1 in my custom fanned fret P-style bass. The mid peak is not so noticable (actually sounds similar to a P-pickup, but with more growl being in the position where the D-G segment of a P pickup is), and it rocks with Fender 9050CL flatwounds.
